Vodafone Rakiraki Festival Launches Rise Above Theme to Build Strong Minds and Bright Futures

Rise Above: Vodafone Rakiraki Festival Sparks Hope for a Brighter Future

The Vodafone Rakiraki Festival kicked off on Friday, embracing the inspiring theme “Rise Above, Building Strong Minds, Bright Futures.” This week-long event features five contestants competing for the prestigious title of Queen, highlighting the spirit and determination of the Rakiraki community.

Nilesh Singh, Vodafone Fiji’s head of recharge and distribution, underscored the importance of the festival’s theme, noting its deep relevance to the people of Rakiraki. He expressed that while the region is renowned for its natural splendor, its true essence lies in the individuals who embody warmth, generosity, and resilience. “The heart of Rakiraki is its people, who have shown remarkable strength in overcoming challenges,” Singh remarked.

The “Rise Above” initiative is a call for the community to transcend temporary setbacks, whether they be environmental, social, or economic. It emphasizes the crucial need for resilience, advocating for “Building Strong Minds” through education, mental health awareness, and critical thinking—essential components for preparing the youth for a rapidly changing world. Singh asserted, “Investing in strong minds ensures that the bright future of Rakiraki is not just a hope, but a guarantee.”

For the past thirty years, Vodafone Fiji has played a pivotal role in connecting Fijians and fostering community development. Singh pointed out the significance of digital infrastructure, which has facilitated students’ access to educational resources, enabled businesses to engage in global trade, and allowed families to remain connected regardless of location.

“As a proud major sponsor of this community festival, we are committed to aiding every community, including Rakiraki, in overcoming limitations and seizing the digital opportunities that lie ahead,” he added.

Singh also encouraged the contestants for the Queen title to leverage their platform for advocacy, maintaining that their role extends beyond mere pageantry. They are encouraged to exemplify resilience and determination.

Running from November 22 to November 29, the Vodafone Rakiraki Festival promises a week filled with community engagement and celebration. This event stands as a beacon of hope, uniting individuals and empowering them to confront challenges with confidence and collective strength, ultimately paving the way for a brighter future for all.
