RFMF Aims to End Sukuna Bowl Drought in Clash With Fiji Police

RFMF Eyes Sukuna Bowl Glory, Aims to Break Seven-Year Drought Against Fiji Police

The Republic of Fiji Military Forces (RFMF) soccer team is setting its sights on ending a seven-year title drought at this year’s Sukuna Bowl tournament, where they aim to unseat the reigning champions, the Fiji Police Force. Following a tough 6-1 loss in the previous year’s final, the RFMF is primed for redemption, having last claimed the trophy in 2018.

Team captain Epeli Saukuru expressed optimism about their preparations, despite the absence of key player Christopher Wasasala, who is currently competing internationally in Papua New Guinea. “We have a lot of new players this year, and we have been losing for six to seven years now. Our goal is to end that drought and come out victorious,” Saukuru stated. The RFMF team faces a formidable challenge, particularly against the Fiji Police Force, which is known for its skilled national players.

Nonetheless, determination and teamwork will be the driving forces for RFMF, with pivotal players such as Peniame Drova, Kolinio Sivoki, and goalkeeper Epeli Loganiceva ready to make an impact. Their collective efforts are aimed at securing a much-desired victory during the tournament.

Gratitude was also a theme in Saukuru’s message as he thanked families and the broader RFMF community for their steadfast support. He encouraged supporters to rally behind the team as they prepare to compete in Labasa for the coveted trophy, with the tournament slated for November 17-19 in Suva, culminating in Labasa on November 20-21.

The rivalry between the RFMF and Fiji Police not only enhances the competitive nature of the Sukuna Bowl but also fosters a sense of community and unity among the forces. As anticipation grows, the tournament is set to showcase not only athletic excellence but also the camaraderie that continues to bind the various groups together, creating a celebratory environment for athletes and fans alike.
