Rey Mysterio Returns to WWE Singles Action vs JD McDonagh

Rey Mysterio is making his much-anticipated return to singles competition this Monday night, following his recent appearance alongside John Cena in what marked Cena’s final match on “WWE Raw.” According to WWE’s official website, Mysterio is set to face JD McDonagh, who shared the match graphic on his social media platform X (formerly Twitter).

Last week, Mysterio joined forces with Cena and Sheamus to secure a win against Judgment Day members McDonagh, Dominik Mysterio, and Finn Balor. The elder Mysterio confronted his son, Dominik, who currently holds both the Intercontinental Championship and the AAA Mega Championship. This confrontation likely reignites their long-standing feud, which began in September 2022 when Dominik betrayed his father to join Judgment Day.

Mysterio’s return comes after he suffered a groin injury just one day before WrestleMania 41 in April, which sidelined him and resulted in missing “The Showcase of the Immortals.” During his time away from the ring, he also dealt with a busted eardrum, although he reported that his back and neck injuries had healed. Originally hoping to return by August, Mysterio is now back, ready to engage with fans once more.

Before his recent match with Cena, Mysterio’s last singles match took place on April 18 on “SmackDown,” where he and his partners Dragon Lee and Rey Fenix triumphed over the Creed Brothers and Chad Gable. This upcoming match against McDonagh marks a significant moment in his career as he transitions back to individual competition, paving the way for exciting narratives within WWE’s storyline framework. Enthusiasts of sports entertainment can anticipate captivating developments as Mysterio navigates this new chapter while potentially rekindling his rivalry with his son.
