The Department of Environment has officially received an Environment Impact Assessment (EIA) for a proposed seven-storey office and apartment complex at Lot 1, Knolly Street, currently occupied by the headquarters of the Ministry of Rural and Maritime Development and Disaster Management. The proposed development is being put forward by RB Patel Group Ltd.

As part of the Environment Management (Amendment) Act 2025, the public is invited to review the EIA and provide their feedback within 21 working days of its release. Starting from December 27, 2025, the assessment will be accessible for public inspection at the Department of Environment headquarters, located at Level 2, Bali Towers, Toorak, as well as at local police posts in Toorak and Flagstaff.

Community engagement is crucial in this process, with comments on the report required by the deadline of January 27, 2026. This initiative empowers the local community to play an active role in decisions impacting their environment and future developments. By involving residents in such projects, there is potential for fostering a sense of ownership and responsibility, which can lead to more sustainable urban development and positive community outcomes.
