Significant rainfall has been recorded in numerous regions across the country over the last 24 hours, leading to elevated river levels and heightened flood risks in susceptible areas.

The Fiji Meteorological Service reported considerable rainfall totals from 4 PM yesterday to 4 PM today, with Rarawai receiving 235.0mm, followed closely by Nadarivatu at 197.5mm, Navala at 192.5mm, and Nanoko at 159.5mm. Other notable accumulations included Waikubukubu with 132.5mm, Monasavu at 117.5mm, and Lautoka with 104.5mm.

A flood warning has been issued for all low-lying and flood-prone regions adjacent to and downstream of the Nakauvadra River in Rakiraki Town, as well as Naseyani along the Yaqara River, the Tavua River, and within the floodplains of the Ba River. Additionally, a flood alert is in effect for low-lying and vulnerable areas nearby the Nadi, Nawaka, and Tuva Rivers in Nadroga.

Authorities are strongly advising residents in affected and nearby communities to stay vigilant, avoid traversing flooded roads and river crossings, and adhere to all official weather warnings and advisories as the unstable weather conditions are expected to continue.
