Rasul Douglas, a former standout at West Virginia University, achieved a significant milestone last week by breaking a 15-year drought among defensive players in the AFC, earning recognition from the NFL for his impressive performance.

Playing for the Miami Dolphins, Douglas was instrumental during the team’s 34-10 victory over the New York Jets, where he showcased his skills with five passes defensed, two tackles, and one interception. This remarkable achievement made Douglas the first AFC player since 2010 to accomplish the feat of registering five passes defensed alongside an interception in a single game. His exceptional play earned him the title of Week 14 AFC Defensive Player of the Week.

Currently in his first season with the Dolphins after leaving the Buffalo Bills, Douglas is defying skeptics who believed his career was declining. In total, he has accumulated 44 tackles, 11 passes defensed, one sack, and one forced fumble this season, demonstrating his resilience and talent on the field.

Despite the Dolphins facing challenges with a 6-7 record this season, sitting third in the AFC East behind the Buffalo Bills and New England Patriots, Douglas’s performances provide a silver lining. His continued success offers hope to both fans of West Virginia and Dolphins supporters alike, as they witness his growth and impact within the NFL.
