Rangers, managed by Danny Rohl, have the opportunity to pull three points ahead of Celtic in the Scottish Premiership when they face Aberdeeen, coached by Jimmy Thelin, following their impressive 3-1 victory in the Old Firm match at Parkhead.

As the highly-anticipated contest approaches on Tuesday night, the Scottish football governing body has confirmed that Nick Walsh will officiate the match on January 6. He will be supported by assistant referees Daniel McFarlane and Ross Macleod, while Andrew Dallas will handle VAR duties, with Graeme Leslie assisting at Clydesdale House.

This season, Walsh has officiated four matches involving Rangers, with his first appearance being their 1-1 draw against St Mirren in Paisley. His subsequent assignments included overseeing a 2-0 victory against Hibernian in the Premier Sports Cup and the high-stakes semi-final against Celtic at Hampden in November. Most recently, he oversaw Rangers’ 2-1 defeat to Hearts at Tynecastle. For Aberdeen, Walsh has officiated two matches so far, including their season opener against Hearts and a scoreless draw against Livingston.

Tuesday’s match marks the first of two encounters between Rangers and Aberdeen in a single week, with the teams set to clash again on Sunday, January 11, at Pittodrie. This matchup is particularly significant as it is the first this season for the two teams, following Rangers’ dominant 4-0 victory over Aberdeen in their previous meeting when Barry Ferguson was at the helm.

With both teams eager to claim vital points, fans can expect an exciting display of football in what promises to be a thrilling showdown.
