Rewa head coach Priyant Manu expressed his belief that missed opportunities nearly cost his team, despite securing a narrow 1-0 victory over Labasa in the first leg of the Pillay Garments Champion vs Champion clash over the weekend. Manu pointed out that although Rewa had multiple chances to extend their lead, they struggled to capitalize on these opportunities.
He attributed some of the missed chances to the wet and rainy conditions but emphasized that the team should not use that as an excuse for their lack of finishing. Looking ahead to the second leg, scheduled for Saturday, Manu anticipates a more challenging contest, especially as Labasa, known as the Babasiga Lions, will be eager to respond after their defeat.
Manu underscored the importance of his players performing at their best, particularly since the upcoming match will take place at Labasa’s home ground, Subrail Park. He stated, “We usually train in these types of conditions, so it’s no excuse as to why we couldn’t score more goals. We know Labasa will be looking to make a comeback, so we are expecting a tougher match this weekend.”
Additionally, he expressed gratitude to the Rewa supporters for their strong presence during the first leg and hopes they will once again rally behind the team this Saturday. The upcoming match promises excitement as both teams vie for supremacy, with Rewa looking to secure their lead and Labasa eager to turn the tide.
