São Paulo FC has completed its final preparations for the highly anticipated debut in the Brazilian Championship, scheduled for Wednesday, August 28, at 9:30 PM (Brasília time) against Flamengo, taking place at the Morumbi Stadium.

The training session on Tuesday marked the initial day of Rafinha as the Tricolor’s sporting manager. Before his public introduction, Rafinha observed the training alongside club President Harry Massis Junior and executive Rui Costa, engaging in discussions with various departmental members.

During the practice, coach Hernán Crespo focused on tactical adjustments, emphasizing set piece strategies on both offensive and defensive fronts. Additionally, a smaller-sided game was organized for part of the squad to enhance team chemistry.

Facing a challenging series of matches ahead, including fixtures in both the Brasileirão and the Campeonato Paulista, São Paulo is under pressure to secure favorable results, especially as they aim to avoid relegation in the State Championship. To bolster the team’s performance, Crespo is likely to reintegrate players who were absent or rested during their recent defeat to Palmeiras.

Among the players expected to feature prominently in the starting lineup are Lucas, who was not included in the previous matchday squad, and Calleri, who made a late appearance during the derby and is anticipated to start against Flamengo.

The potential São Paulo lineup may consist of Rafael; Maik (or Cédric), Arboleda, Alan Franco, and Enzo Díaz (or Wendell); Bobadilla, Marcos Antônio, Danielzinho, and Lucas, with Luciano (supported by either Ferreirinha or Dória) and Calleri up front.

Crespo might also consider a tactical shift back to his preferred 3-5-2 formation, which would incorporate an additional center-back into the lineup.

As São Paulo heads into this crucial match, there is optimism surrounding the squad’s ability to adapt and perform. The reintroduction of key players and strategic adjustments could pave the way for a strong start in the championship.
