Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka has made an important announcement regarding his relocation to the official Prime Minister’s residence located at 224 Ratu Sukuna Road. This move signifies a significant return to a property specifically designated for the nation’s leader.

In a video message, Prime Minister Rabuka shared that the moving process commenced yesterday, underscoring the historical importance of the residence. “Today is also the first day of our moving houses, to 224 Ratu Sukuna Road,” he conveyed. The Prime Minister highlighted that this residence has served as the official home for Prime Ministers since it was acquired in the early 1990s, expressing his family’s enthusiasm about returning to a familiar place.

Rabuka took the opportunity to clarify that the current building he occupies is not meant for the head of government, as it is the rightful property of the Chief Justice. He noted, “This building here belongs rightfully to the Chief Justice, and 224 was specially bought for the Prime Minister to serve as the Prime Minister’s residence, as there was no residence at that time.”

This transition represents not only a significant personal milestone for the Rabuka family but also underscores the importance of the official residence as a symbol of leadership and governance in Fiji. The move aims to restore a sense of tradition and provide the necessary familial support that comes with such a prestigious role. It marks a hopeful new chapter for the Prime Minister as he embraces the responsibilities of his position in a historically significant setting.
