The Public Service Commission has initiated a significant reshuffle of Permanent Secretaries, redistributing senior officials across several crucial ministries with the backing of the Prime Minister. This restructuring aims to enhance administrative efficiency and better address the needs of various sectors.

Effective January 5, 2026, Peni Sikivou will step into the role of Acting Permanent Secretary for Commerce and Business Development, following the conclusion of Shaheen Ali’s contract. Sikivou will serve in this position for a maximum of four months until a permanent successor is appointed.

Additionally, Selina Kuruleca, the current Permanent Secretary for Justice, will take on additional responsibilities as the Acting Permanent Secretary for Women, Children, and Social Protection on a part-time basis, starting January 19. She will continue to hold her primary role within the Justice Ministry.

In a further development, Atelaite Rokosuka, who previously served as the Permanent Secretary for Fisheries and Forestry, has been relocated to serve as the Head of the Fiji Learning Institute for Public Service, beginning January 12.

Eseta Nadakuitavuki will transition from her role in Women, Children, and Social Protection to become the Permanent Secretary for the Ministry of Information, effective January 19.

These changes reflect the government’s commitment to adapting and optimizing leadership within its ministries, ensuring that the public service maintains its responsiveness and efficacy in addressing the dynamic challenges faced by the nation.
