For the first time in its 197-year history, the Philadelphia Flower Show is collaborating with a variety of local restaurants and bars to enhance the experience for attendees by offering an array of botanical-themed cocktails, vegetable-forward dishes, and exclusive deals throughout the city. The Pennsylvania Horticultural Society (PHS) has initiated this partnership to connect the vibrant floral celebration with the culinary creativity found in Philadelphia’s neighborhoods.

PHS President Matt Rader highlighted the deep-rooted cultural significance of the Flower Show, stating, “This new dining partnership reflects the same spirit; an incredible variety of unique restaurants offering experiences that extend the magic of the Flower Show into neighborhoods across Philadelphia.”

This year, the theme “Rooted: Origins of American Gardening” focuses on the foundations of modern horticultural practices, featuring displays inspired by Japanese zen gardens, Scottish forests, and historical plant trade routes. The exhibit will be open to the public from March 2 to March 10, daily from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., with tickets still available for those wishing to partake in the vibrant displays of floral artistry.

Participating venues are featuring special menu items inspired by the Flower Show. For instance, Famous 4th Street Delicatessen in Queen Village will offer a limited selection of hand-decorated flower cookies. Center City’s first designated dart bar is providing a 10% discount on specialty cocktails for Flower Show guests, including unique drinks like the Fields Forever and Bramble Spritz.

At Front Street Cafe in Kensington, customers presenting their Flower Show tickets will be able to enjoy a discount, alongside a specialty menu featuring edible flowers integrated into cocktails and entrees. The Kimmel Center’s Leo restaurant is celebrating with “vegetable-forward” dishes, including appetizers and a floral-inspired cocktail called the Botanical 75.

North Philadelphia’s Libertee Grounds is excited to unveil a greenhouse banh mi on its menu, complemented by a Flor De Fizz cocktail. Meanwhile, the cafe in Society Hill will honor Women’s History Month by donating a portion of the proceeds from its Steel Magnolia latte to support gender equality initiatives in Philadelphia.

Other eateries are getting in on the festive spirit too, such as Twisted Tail, known for its rich bourbon selections, which is showcasing its Spring Fever cocktail featuring a delightful mix of tequila, mezcal, and cachaça. They are also hosting a cocktail competition in association with the Flower Show, inviting participants to submit their own spring-inspired creations, adding a competitive edge to the celebration that culminates on the first day of spring.

With a variety of floral-inspired food and drink options radiating throughout the city, the collaboration promises to extend the Flower Show’s enchanting atmosphere beyond the venue, bringing together both local residents and visitors in a celebration of community, creativity, and the beauty of nature. This initiative serves as a reminder of how culinary delights can enhance cultural events, fostering connections and enjoyment within the city.
