After captivating audiences for six successful seasons, “Peaky Blinders” reached its conclusion in 2022. However, fans will be delighted to know that the iconic character Tommy Shelby is set to return in the upcoming film, “Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man.” This movie aims to provide a fitting closure to his story, as noted by the series creator, Steven Knight.

In an interview with Empire, Knight expressed his aspiration for “The Immortal Man” to “feel like the end of a novel,” stating, “It’s the last few chapters of a long novel, where you get to round it off. And prepare people for what comes next.” Set against the tumultuous backdrop of World War II in 1940, the film will depict a Birmingham under siege.

The conclusion of the TV series saw Tommy leave Birmingham, but his return for the movie is driven by unforeseen circumstances. Actor Cillian Murphy remarked on the beautifully ambiguous finale, stating, “I loved that beautiful ambiguity of him riding off on the horse, and he’s gone, and we don’t know where he’s gone to, but he’s back in the Gypsy world.” He also hinted at the intriguing narrative shift, with Tommy now navigating life amid the chaos of war, describing it as an “elegant bookmarking of a story.” The movie features a remarkable cast alongside Murphy, including Rebecca Ferguson, Tim Roth, Stephen Graham, and Barry Keoghan, among others.

Fans of the series can also look forward to more content from the “Peaky Blinders” universe. Earlier this year, Netflix announced that a sequel series is in the works, set in 1953. The official logline reveals a Birmingham looking to rebuild after extensive bombing during the war, with the Shelby family poised at the center of a brutal competition for the city’s reconstruction. Knight remarked on the sequel, “I’m thrilled to be announcing this new chapter in the Peaky Blinders story. Once again it will be rooted in Birmingham and will tell the story of a city rising from the ashes of the Birmingham blitz.”

“Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man” is set to premiere in select theaters on March 6, 2026, followed by a Netflix release on March 20, 2026. With both the film and the promising new series on the horizon, fans can look forward to enjoying the rich narrative and complex characters they have come to love in this acclaimed franchise.
