Patrick Beverley Arrested in Alleged Altercation with Sister

Former NBA player and Barstool Sports podcast host Patrick Beverley was arrested on November 14, facing serious accusations stemming from an altercation with his sister. The incident reportedly began when Beverley’s 15-year-old sister left their Fort Bend home without permission to visit her 18-year-old boyfriend. Upon her return, both Beverley and their mother confronted her.

According to court documents, Beverley, 37, allegedly grabbed his sister by the neck, lifting her off the ground, and reportedly squeezed her neck for 20 to 30 seconds, causing her to feel pain and struggle to breathe. Witnesses claim he further asserted control by taking her to a couch and allegedly punched her in the left eye with a closed fist, making disturbing remarks about being a family member who could “kill her.”

The situation escalated when the boyfriend called for police assistance, which resulted in officers discovering visible markings on the sister’s neck and signs of petechiae in her eyes, indicating potential trauma. Beverley was subsequently arrested for third-degree assault, a charge that carries a prison sentence of two to ten years if convicted. He was released on a $40,000 bond.

In the wake of the incident, Beverley took to social media to express his perspective, urging followers not to believe everything reported online. He emphasized his lack of a prior criminal record and described himself as a concerned brother who felt anxious about finding his sister alone with a young man late at night. His attorney, Letitia Quinones-Hollins, has also released statements asserting that the incident is being viewed from one emotional perspective and insisting that Beverley is not a violent person.

Beverley, who last played in the NBA during the 2023-24 season with the Philadelphia 76ers and Milwaukee Bucks, later spent time with Hapoel Tel Aviv. He was suspended in February before parting ways with the team. This case has sparked considerable attention, and as it progresses, there is hope for a fair resolution where all facts can be presented in court, allowing Beverley the opportunity to clear his name. As always, it is important to approach such sensitive matters with an open mind and remember the presumption of innocence until proven guilty.
