Packers Turn to Havrisik for Giants Clash: Will His Perfect Start Continue?

Packers Turn to Havrisik for Giants Clash: Will His Perfect Start Continue?

The Green Bay Packers are set to feature a new kicker, Lucas Havrisik, when they take on the New York Giants. Filling in for Brandon McManus, who is sidelined with a quad injury, Havrisik looks to maintain his perfect record after going 10 for 10 on kicks in his brief stint with the team.

Havrisik, who joined the Packers in October, stepped up as McManus dealt with his injury. In his first game, he successfully converted two field goals and three extra points. He continued his flawless performance in his next outing against the Arizona Cardinals, where he again made both field goals and all three extra points, including a historic 61-yard field goal that set a record for the longest field goal in Packers history.

McManus, who initially landed on the injury report ahead of the game against the Cincinnati Bengals last month, missed two games before returning against the Pittsburgh Steelers, where he struggled, missing multiple field goals. His performance since returning has been inconsistent, leading to Havrisik being given the opportunity to start again. Despite McManus’ familiarity with the team—he joined the Packers midseason in 2024, providing stability to the kicking unit—his accuracy has waned this season. McManus has missed six field goals in seven games, showcasing challenges beyond just his injury, as his percentages, particularly from long range, have been concerning.

Havrisik, at just 26, has had an interesting career path. After going undrafted in 2023, he spent time as the Rams’ primary kicker, achieving success in his rookie season with a solid field goal and extra point record. After a stint with the Cleveland Browns, he found his way to Green Bay, where he has quickly become a dependable option.

As the Packers prepare for their matchup against the Giants, all eyes will be on Havrisik to see if he can continue his perfect streak and help stabilize the kicking game during a challenging season. Regardless of the struggles faced by the team, there is hope that the emergence of Havrisik could lead to a turning point for the Packers’ special teams.
