Fiji Airways men’s 7s coach Osea Kolinisau has underscored the critical role of discipline as his team prepares for the upcoming Perth 7s tournament. Drawing on insights from their recent performance in Singapore, the team’s immediate attention is directed towards their opening pool match against a strong Argentine squad.

Kolinisau highlighted the necessity of maintaining focus, cautioning against looking too far ahead. “We have Argentina first, then Spain. When we get to South Africa, we’ve learned from last week that most of the tries came from kicks. Our defense is solid, and we’ll make necessary adjustments as needed for South Africa,” he said.

He emphasized the team’s philosophy of tackling challenges one match at a time, encouraging his players to remain concentrated on their initial opponent. “Right now we want to focus on one game at a time. We have a very good Argentinian side up first. Then we’ll focus on Spain, then South Africa,” Kolinisau noted.

Regarding player fitness, Kolinisau reassured supporters that despite minor injuries sustained during the Singapore tournament, the management and medical staff are confident in the players’ recovery. He referenced Talacolo’s shoulder injury and Teba’s recent contusion, which sidelined him from the final against New Zealand as a precaution.

The Fiji men’s 7s team will begin their Perth 7s campaign against Argentina at 4:20 PM, followed by a match against Spain at 7:36 PM, and will wrap up the pool stage with a game against South Africa at 10:52 PM. Fans can watch all the live action on FBC TV.

With a disciplined mindset and a strategic approach, the Fiji men’s 7s team is set to make an impactful statement in Perth, igniting hopes for a successful tournament ahead.
