Oceania Education and Technology Solutions (OETS) has taken significant steps to address graduate unemployment by prioritizing job readiness over theoretical knowledge during the launch of its three subsidiaries at Challenge Plaza in Nadi. Group CEO and Managing Director Hasmukh Lal underscored the institution’s dedication to offering education that aligns with actual industry demands, ensuring students are prepared for immediate employment.
Lal emphasized the critical role of robust partnerships with industry leaders in facilitating smooth transitions into the workforce. OETS has formed collaborations with notable companies such as Telecom Fiji Ltd, Datec Fiji Ltd, and Empower Pacific. These partnerships enable the development of tailored training programs designed to meet current labor demands, empowering students to make immediate contributions to the economy upon graduation.
Under the support of these collaborations, Telecom Fiji Ltd will assist with the Diploma of Telecommunications and Network Engineering, while Datec Fiji Ltd will back the Diploma of Software Development and the Diploma in Cyber Security. In addition, Empower Pacific will support various certificate and diploma programs in counseling. These strategic alliances offer mutual benefits to both education providers and businesses, promoting skill development that is essential for Fiji’s workforce.
Furthermore, the partnerships will afford students opportunities for internships prior to graduation, thereby enhancing their employability and access to job opportunities upon completing their studies. The launch also introduced three new institutions under OETS: the Oceania Institute of Technology, Pacific Study Hub, and Canterbury Language Academy, marking a notable development in addressing the skills gap in the job market within the region.
This proactive initiative sets a positive precedent for educational institutions in Fiji and holds the promise of a future where graduates can secure meaningful employment quickly, ultimately fueling the country’s economic growth. By bridging the gap between education and industry requirements, OETS is leading the way toward a more prepared and employable workforce.
