Notre Dame has secured a significant addition to its defensive line for the 2026 season with the commitment of former Alabama defensive end Keon Keeley. Standing 6-foot-5 and weighing 282 pounds, Keeley brings a wealth of experience and talent after playing 19 collegiate games.

Originally, Keeley committed to Notre Dame during high school, but ultimately chose Alabama over the Fighting Irish and Ohio State. Now, three years later, he is set to join Marcus Freeman’s squad in South Bend. In the 2025 season, Keeley made an impact, participating in 13 games, where he amassed 16 tackles, three tackles for loss, and three sacks. Notably, his performance culminated in a dramatic game-ending sack during a matchup against South Carolina.

One of Keeley’s standout performances was showcased in Alabama’s College Football Playoff victory over Oklahoma, where he recorded four tackles, one sack, and two quarterback hurries. His presence will be crucial for Notre Dame, as he is expected to fill the gap left by Joshua Burnham at the big end position. Additionally, Keeley possesses the versatility to transition inside as required.

Under the guidance of new defensive line coach Charlie Partridge, known for his successful track record in developing high-caliber athletes, Keeley has the potential to evolve into a formidable pass rusher. He will have two seasons of eligibility remaining, having redshirted during his freshman year in 2023.

This addition not only strengthens Notre Dame’s defensive lineup but also highlights the program’s commitment to attracting elite talent.
