A 47-year-old man has been charged with the shocking murder of two individuals following a violent stabbing incident in northwest Sydney early Sunday morning. New South Wales Police reported that emergency services were called to a home on Illabo Street in Quakers Hill just before 5 a.m. after neighbors raised alarms about a loud disturbance.

Upon arrival, officers discovered a critically injured 30-year-old man on the footpath outside the residence and found a 38-year-old woman deceased inside the kitchen. Both victims had sustained multiple stab wounds. The woman was identified as Anaseini Waqavuki, whose tragic death has led to an outpouring of grief within the Fijian community, with tributes and messages of mourning circulating extensively on social media.

The injured man received emergency treatment at the scene from NSW Ambulance paramedics before being transported to Liverpool Hospital in critical condition; unfortunately, he succumbed to his injuries around 9 a.m. Police have identified the suspect as Waqavuki’s former partner, who turned himself in at Blacktown Police Station at approximately 5:30 a.m. He has since been charged with two counts of murder.

As the investigation unfolds, authorities are urging anyone with information related to the incident to come forward. The suspect is expected to appear in court in New South Wales. This tragic incident serves as a stark reminder of the issues surrounding domestic violence, prompting calls for increased attention and action to support victims and prevent such violent acts in the future.
