Jerzy Robinson, a highly sought-after player and the No. 5 recruit in the 2026 women’s basketball class, has officially committed to join the South Carolina Gamecocks. The announcement came on December 23, confirming her choice over prominent programs such as LSU and UConn, the latter being the defending national champion and a major rival for South Carolina.

Standing at 6 feet tall and hailing from Sierra Canyon High School in California, Robinson made her commitment public during a live segment on ESPN2. She expressed her strong connection to South Carolina, stating, “I feel like it’s home, it’s peace.”

Robinson’s visit to South Carolina in late October further solidified her decision. She attended an exhibition game shortly before the commitment, where she was seen supporting the team from behind the bench. Robinson also experienced the vibrant atmosphere of South Carolina football when she attended a game alongside head coach Dawn Staley, current players, and former Gamecocks standout A’ja Wilson, who recently made history as the WNBA’s first four-time MVP.

Robinson’s signing adds significant talent to a growing 2026 class, making her the second commit for South Carolina, joining center Kelsi Andrews, the No. 18 recruit who had recently committed. The Gamecocks are also welcoming Alicia Tournebize, a 6-foot-7 player from France, who announced her enrollment just the day before Robinson’s commitment.

This acquisition marks a notable moment for coach Dawn Staley, as Robinson is the highest-ranked recruit she has secured since securing Joyce Edwards, the No. 3 recruit in 2023. With these new additions, South Carolina is looking to build a formidable roster for the 2026-27 season, preparing for the departures of notable players such as Ta’Niya Latson and Raven Johnson. However, the return of Ashlyn Watkins and the potential return of Chloe Kitts, who is recovering from an ACL injury, could provide the team with strong options moving forward.

As the Gamecocks continue to enhance their talent pool, fans are excited about the promising future of the program under Staley’s guidance. The continued recruitment of elite players like Robinson ensures that South Carolina remains a competitive force in women’s basketball.
