No. 10 Wisconsin Volleyball Sweeps No. 18 Minnesota, Sets Up NCAA Tournament Hosting Hopes

The 10th-ranked Wisconsin Badgers volleyball team delivered an impressive performance by sweeping No. 18 Minnesota, concluding their regular season with a stellar record of 24-4 overall and an undefeated month of November. This commanding victory, with set scores of 25-18, 25-18, and 25-17, occurred on November 28 in Minneapolis and marked the Badgers’ eighth consecutive win.

Key players contributed significantly to the success, with Mimi Colyer leading the charge with 13 kills. Both Una Vajagic and Carter Booth followed closely, each adding 12 kills to the team’s efforts. Notably, Booth achieved her season-high 12 kills without incurring any attack errors, boasting an impressive hitting percentage of .522. This performance reflects her consistent improvement, as she has recorded eight or more kills in six of her last seven matches.

Vajagic has also been a standout performer, hitting double-digit kills in five of her last six matches, showcasing her growth during her initial college season. The team as a whole hit .385, demonstrating a balanced and aggressive offensive strategy. The Badgers’ strong showing was highlighted by Minnesota never reaching the 20-point mark in any of the three sets, indicating their dominance throughout the match.

While Wisconsin did commit 14 service errors—its highest in a three-set match this season—the team’s serving proved effective as they recorded eight aces from six different players. This performance adds yet another quality win to Wisconsin’s résumé as they prepare for NCAA tournament selection on November 30. With a current ranking of No. 11 in RPI, the Badgers are very likely to be among the top 16 overall seeds, offering them the opportunity to host the first two rounds of the tournament.
