The Fiji Football Association has appointed Nicola Demaine as the new Head Coach of the Fiji women’s national football team, known as the Fiji Kulas. This strategic decision reflects the association’s dedication to promoting women’s football and enhancing the long-term development of the national program.
Fiji FA President Rajesh Patel expressed confidence in Demaine’s capabilities, citing her extensive international experience in women’s football, particularly within the Oceania region. “Her background and understanding of women’s football make her a valuable addition to our national setup,” he stated, underlining her ability in team development and high-performance contexts.
Demaine, originally from England, is well-qualified for her new role. She has garnered significant experience across the Pacific and Asia, including leading Papua New Guinea to victory in the OFC Women’s Nations Cup in 2022, which marked a landmark achievement as the nation’s first major international success in women’s football. Her previous roles also include serving as the head coach for the Samoa women’s national team and working as an OFC Women’s Football Development Officer, showcasing her commitment to advancing women’s football in the region. Most recently, she held the position of head coach for the Bhutan women’s national team.
Upon her appointment, Demaine expressed her thanks to the Fiji Football Association and enthusiasm for working with the team. “I am looking forward to collaborating with the players, coaching staff, and administrators to continue the development of the women’s program and build a strong, competitive team,” she said, emphasizing her aim to create a supportive environment for player growth and recognizing the potential in Fiji’s women’s football.
