Pleasant and dry weather is predicted for Saturday as Carnival celebrations commence in and around New Orleans, promising an exciting day for parade-goers. With sunny skies and a comfortable high of 66 degrees, attendees can look forward to nearly flawless conditions for the festivities. Meteorologist Hannah Gard from Fox 8 highlights the ideal weather for both daytime and evening celebrations.

The first parade, the Krewe of Pontchartrain, is set to kick off at 11:30 a.m. on the Uptown New Orleans route. This will be followed by a series of exciting parades, including the Legion of Mars at noon, the Krewe of Choctaw at 2 p.m., and the Krewe of Freret at 3:30 p.m. After a brief intermission, the Krewe of Sparta is scheduled to roll at 5:30 p.m., followed by the Krewe of Pygmalion at 6:15 p.m.

Adding to the festive atmosphere, Saints quarterback Tyler Shough will serve as the grand marshal for the Krewe of Pygmalion, bringing the team’s spirit to the celebrations.

In neighboring areas, the Magical Krewe of MadHatters will host its “Alice in Wonderland”-themed parade in Metairie at 5 p.m., featuring esteemed soul singer Irma Thomas as grand marshal and former Saints running back Pierre Thomas in an engaging role as the Mad Hatter. Fox 8 anchors will also participate, adding to the local charm.

Other parades include the Krewe of Nemesis in St. Bernard Parish at 1 p.m. and the Krewe of Olympia in Covington at 6 p.m., concluding a vibrant day filled with entertainment and community spirit.
