NBCSN Returns on Xfinity, Foreshadowing Peacock’s Sports Push

Comcast has officially launched its new national sports channel, NBCSN, on its Xfinity TV service. This rollout comes just a week after the channel became available on YouTube TV, a platform owned by Google.

NBCSN provides viewers with live coverage of various sporting events sourced from NBC Sports and Peacock. This includes games from prominent leagues and franchises such as the National Basketball Association (NBA), Women’s National Basketball Association (WNBA), NASCAR, Major League Baseball (MLB), and the English Premier League.

This reintroduction of NBCSN acts as a comeback for the original network, which ceased operations in late 2021. The move is part of NBC Universal’s broader strategy to deliver a wealth of sports content through its streaming service, Peacock. The new NBCSN aims to bridge the gap for cable, satellite, and streaming television customers by providing direct access to Peacock’s sporting events via a dedicated linear channel, reducing the need for viewers to switch between apps.

For viewers subscribed to YouTube TV, NBCSN is included in the base programming package, priced at $83 per month. In contrast, Comcast offers the channel through its more economical “Sports & News” package at $70 per month, accessible via the Xfinity Stream app. Xfinity TV customers also have the option to watch NBCSN in the Popular TV package, with costs varying based on the subscriber’s location after taxes and fees.

Looking ahead, NBCSN plans to feature a simulcast of Peacock’s “Gold Zone” channel during the upcoming Olympics, along with various live Olympic competitions, further solidifying its role as a key destination for sports fans.
