The Tebara Festival has officially kicked off in Nausori, bringing together large crowds at Syria Park, undeterred by adverse weather conditions. This weeklong event, centered on cultural heritage, youth empowerment, and community pride, features eight contestants competing for the esteemed Miss Tebara crown, a key component of the festival aimed at promoting women’s empowerment within the community.

During the festival’s opening ceremony, Minister for Local Government Maciu Nalumisa expressed appreciation to the traditional landowners, sponsors, and organizers whose joint efforts have made the event possible. He remarked, “To the people of Nausori and the greater Tebara Region, this festival belongs to you. Your support, your attendance, and your pride ensure its success year after year.”

Nalumisa also highlighted the Coalition Government’s commitment to enhancing townships like Nausori through improved infrastructure, more efficient municipal services, and the creation of community spaces that nurture such vibrant events.

Gopal Jadhav, Chief Marketing Officer of Punjas Fiji Limited, a major sponsor of the festival, praised the significance of the event, stating, “This is just the beginning; this festival is not just about celebration but also about looking ahead with optimism and confidence to what we can achieve together as a community.”

Organizers remain optimistic that the festival will continue to attract large audiences throughout the week, reinforcing community connections and highlighting the rich culture of the region.
