Nanuku Island Resort has celebrated a remarkable achievement at the 2025 ANZ Fiji Excellence in Tourism Awards held on February 28, securing two prestigious honors: the 2025 Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Award and the 2025 Food Tourism Trophy. This recognition underscores the resort’s commitment to excellence within Fiji’s thriving tourism sector.
Charlotte Steele, the resort’s manager, expressed her enthusiasm upon receiving the CSR award, marking the culmination of years of hard work. “For the past four years, we’ve either finished second or third, and finally winning gold is incredibly thrilling. This achievement is dedicated to our dedicated team back home in Pacific Harbour, as their efforts made this possible,” Steele remarked, acknowledging their passion and dedication.
Nanuku Island Resort has actively engaged with local communities through various initiatives, including biannual medical teams that provide health screenings to six neighboring communities. Steele shared, “We have had a lot of good stories come out of this program. People have improved their lifestyles by managing health issues such as high blood pressure and high sugar levels.” In addition to health initiatives, the resort partners with local schools to offer vocational training and internship opportunities, employing many students as staff members.
Executive Chef Mohammed Shamim Ali highlighted the teamwork that contributed to their Food Tourism Award, emphasizing their focus on authenticity and local produce in crafting exquisite Fijian dishes. “Our commitment to producing authentic Fijian dishes with a focus on local ingredients is a team endeavor,” he stated. The collaboration across the staff was crucial in upholding high-quality standards, which ultimately led to their accolade.
The awards ceremony took place at the Crowne Plaza Fiji Nadi Bay Resort & Spa, celebrating not only Nanuku Island Resort but also other industry leaders, such as Terra Merita Pte Limited, which won the 2025 Tourism Industry Support Award. This gathering showcased the accomplishments of outstanding resorts and underscored the collective efforts to enhance Fiji’s tourism landscape.
The recognition achieved by Nanuku Island Resort exemplifies the impact of community engagement and a commitment to quality in the hospitality sector, instilling hope and inspiration for future initiatives and ongoing success within Fiji’s tourism industry.
