The Land Transport Authority (LTA) has urged pedestrians to exercise caution while crossing roads, particularly during the festive season, following a tragic incident on Boxing Day where a 58-year-old man from Nadi lost his life after being struck by a bus in Namaka.

In a public statement, the LTA emphasized the importance of vigilance for pedestrians, advising them to cross roads only at designated safe points. They should avoid making sudden movements and ensure that it is safe to cross before stepping onto the roadway.

The LTA also reminded drivers to remain attentive and to reduce their speed in areas frequented by pedestrians to enhance safety for all road users.

As of now, police investigations into the fatal accident are ongoing. This incident serves as a crucial reminder of the need for heightened awareness on the roads during a time when pedestrian traffic tends to increase. By following safety guidelines, both pedestrians and drivers can contribute to a safer environment for everyone.
