Fiji 7s player Waisea Nacuqu has officially withdrawn from the Mike Friday Select team ahead of the upcoming McDonald’s Coral Coast Fiji 7s tournament. This decision comes after a formal directive from the Fiji Police’s Human Resources Director, which indicated that, as a paid and active member of the police force, Nacuqu is required to resume his official duties and be available for police responsibilities.

The tournament organizers have expressed their understanding and full respect for the stance of the Fiji Police regarding Nacuqu’s commitment. He is now the second player from the police department to step back from the upcoming tournament, following his teammate Ilikimi Torosi.

In response to these changes, team management has welcomed Sairuisi Vunisa to the squad. Vunisa has demonstrated his remarkable abilities, earning a place in the 2024 Ambassador All Star Team through the Rupeni Caucaunibuca selection, which highlights athletes known for their dynamic play and ability to turn games around—a legacy that Vunisa exemplifies.

The Coral Coast 7s tournament is scheduled to kick off next Thursday at Lawaqa Park in Sigatoka. Fans can look forward to watching the matches live, exclusively on FBC Sports. As the date approaches, anticipation grows among teams and supporters eager to witness the exceptional talent on display.
