Families in Sawanikula Village, Naitasiri, can now access secondary education more easily with the recent inauguration of Naboro Junior Secondary School. This week marked the official opening of the institution, which has already enrolled 30 Year 9 students and is staffed by a dedicated team of seven teachers. Previously, students in the area faced lengthy travel distances to continue their education, making this development a significant and welcomed change.
Honorable Aseri Radrodro, the Minister for Education, officiated the opening ceremony. He expressed that the establishment of the school is a testament to the government’s commitment to enhancing educational access in rural areas. This initiative is vital for addressing social challenges faced by young people and aims to empower them through education.
To support the new school, the Ministry of Education contributed 30 desks and chairs, as well as library materials valued at $1,678. Furthermore, the ongoing Back-to-School initiative, which provides assistance of $200, alongside eTransport cards, is designed to further ease the educational journey for students in the region.
Minister Radrodro encouraged the students to strive for excellence, emphasizing that strong academic performance is attainable regardless of geographical location. The successful outcomes of other rural schools serve as inspiration and proof of this potential.
The opening of Naboro Junior Secondary School is viewed as a substantial advancement for both education and community development in Naitasiri province. It fosters hope for the future of local students, as they embark on their educational journeys in a more accessible and supportive environment.
