The Maritime Safety Authority of Fiji (MSAF) is actively investigating a tragic incident involving the Interlink passenger vessel, MV Ohana, that occurred at Suva Wharf earlier this week. Reports indicate that a 58-year-old female passenger fainted while onboard, prompting immediate medical attention; unfortunately, she was later pronounced dead after being rushed to the hospital.

In a statement, MSAF expressed its heartfelt condolences to the family and friends of the deceased. The authority emphasized that the investigation is being carried out as part of its regulatory duties, reflecting its commitment to maritime safety and compliance within Fiji’s transportation sector.

MSAF stated that, due to the ongoing nature of the investigation, it is unable to release further information at this time. However, the authority remains dedicated to ensuring the safety and well-being of all passengers and vessels operating within Fiji’s waters.
