Bobby Hauck, the most successful coach in Big Sky Conference football history, announced his retirement from his position as head coach of the Montana Grizzlies on Wednesday, effective immediately. After leading the program for a total of 14 seasons—split into two stints from 2003 to 2009 and from 2018 to 2026—Hauck leaves behind an impressive legacy.

Montana’s wide receivers coach, Bobby Kennedy, has been appointed as the new head coach, stepping into the role as Hauck transitions away from the program. Throughout his 19-year coaching career, Hauck amassed an overall record of 166 wins against 92 losses (.643), with a remarkable 151-43 (.778) record during his time at Montana. His achievements include setting Big Sky Conference records for overall wins and conference victories, totaling 151 and 86, respectively.

Throughout his tenure, Hauck earned numerous accolades, including being named the AFCA FCS Regional Coach of the Year four times and the Big Sky Coach of the Year four times, underscoring his impact on the team and the conference.

A press conference is scheduled for 10 AM Wednesday morning to officially announce his retirement, with updates and footage to follow. This significant change marks a new chapter for the Grizzlies, and fans will be eager to see how the program evolves under Kennedy’s leadership.
