MongoDB Atlas Spurs Revenue Jump, Raises Guidance

MongoDB, Inc. has reported significant growth in its third-quarter fiscal results for 2026, showcasing a 19% year-over-year increase in total revenue, reaching $628.3 million. A standout performer in this quarter was the Atlas product, which saw an impressive 30% growth year-over-year, contributing to 75% of the total revenue. This strong performance has prompted the company to revise its financial guidance upwards for the remainder of the fiscal year.

CJ Desai, President and CEO of MongoDB, expressed optimism about the results, citing that the company exceeded its guidance due to robust performance in Atlas services and ongoing expansion with existing clients. The addition of 2,600 customers in the quarter brought total customer numbers to over 62,500 as of October 31, 2025. Desai remarked that organizations across various sectors continue to choose MongoDB for its unified data platform, crucial for both mission-critical workloads and navigating the emerging AI landscape.

Financial highlights from the third quarter included subscription revenue of $609.1 million, also reflecting a 19% increase compared to the same period last year. Services revenue rose by 12% to $19.2 million. MongoDB reported a gross profit of $449.1 million but noted a slight decrease in gross margin from 74% to 71% year-over-year. Nevertheless, the company reported a reduced loss from operations of $18.4 million, down from $27.9 million a year earlier, further highlighting its path toward profitability.

The net loss for the quarter was recorded at $2.0 million, or $0.02 per share, an improvement from the loss of $9.8 million, or $0.13 per share, reported in the previous year. Non-GAAP net income for the quarter was $114.5 million, equivalent to $1.32 per share, a remarkable recovery compared to a non-GAAP net loss of $98.1 million reported a year prior.

On the operational side, MongoDB ended the quarter with $2.3 billion in cash and equivalents and generated $143.5 million in operational cash flow, illustrating a significant increase from the $37.4 million recorded a year ago. Free cash flow was reported at $140.1 million, substantially up from $34.6 million year-over-year.

Recent achievements include MongoDB’s recognition as a leader in the 2025 Gartner Magic Quadrant for Cloud Database Management Systems for the fourth consecutive year, emphasizing its strong execution and innovation capabilities in the market. Additionally, the company has expanded its capabilities by launching search and vector search features on its platform, previously exclusive to the Atlas cloud service, thus enhancing accessibility for developers across different environments.

Looking ahead, MongoDB has provided an optimistic financial guidance for the fourth quarter and the full fiscal year 2026, forecasting revenue between $665 million and $670 million for the fourth quarter and total revenue between $2.434 billion and $2.439 billion for the full year. Their commitment to continue adapting their offerings to meet the needs of clients ensures that the company remains well-positioned for future growth in a rapidly evolving industry.

Overall, MongoDB’s strong results highlight a solid foundation for continued expansion, particularly in the burgeoning field of AI, as organizations seek versatile and robust database solutions.
