Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a significant tribute to the Sahibzades on Friday, marking the occasion of Veer Baal Diwas and honoring their remarkable sacrifice and bravery. In his message, he emphasized the day as a tribute to the unwavering faith of Mata Gujri Ji and the profound teachings of Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji, which remain a source of inspiration for future generations.
In a post shared on X, PM Modi stated, “Veer Baal Diwas is a day of reverence, dedicated to remembering the sacrifice of the brave Sahibzades. We recall the unshakeable faith of Mata Gujri Ji and the immortal teachings of Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji. This day is associated with courage, conviction and righteousness. Their lives and ideals will continue to motivate people for generations.”
The Prime Minister is set to participate in a national program at Bharat Mandapam in the capital, scheduled for around 12:15 PM, where he will also address the gathering, as confirmed by the Prime Minister’s Office.
To celebrate Veer Baal Diwas, the Government of India is organizing a variety of participatory programs across the country. These initiatives aim to educate citizens about the exceptional courage and sacrifices made by the Sahibzades, while honoring their indomitable spirit and valor. Activities will include storytelling sessions, recitations, and creative competitions such as poster-making and essay-writing. These events are set to take place in schools, Child Care Institutions, Anganwadi centers, and online platforms like MyGov and MyBharat.
The establishment of Veer Baal Diwas was announced by Prime Minister Modi during the Prakash Purab of Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji on January 9, 2022, with the objective of commemorating the martyrdom of Sahibzadas Baba Zorawar Singh Ji and Baba Fateh Singh Ji—sons of Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji—whose sacrifices continue to impact and inspire countless lives.
During the program, awardees of the Pradhan Mantri Rashtriya Bal Puraskar (PMRBP) will also be in attendance, adding to the significance of this heartfelt observance. This day not only reinforces the historical importance of the Sahibzades’ contributions but also serves as a reminder for the nation to honor and uphold the values of courage and righteousness they exemplified.
