This legal move follows the tragic fatal shooting of U.S. citizen Renee Good by an ICE agent in Minneapolis, which has heightened concerns about the aggressive tactics used by federal immigration officials.
Attorney General Ellison expressed grave concerns about the impact of these deployments on Minnesota communities. During a press conference, he stated, “The unlawful deployment of thousands of armed, masked, and poorly trained federal agents is hurting Minnesota.” He emphasized the negative consequences of ICE’s actions, which have led to heightened fears among residents, with many schools going into lockdown and businesses closing down due to the tense atmosphere.

Trump asserted that ICE agents are performing crucial work by removing individuals he labeled as dangerous, attributing rising criminal activity to the administration’s border policies.
