Nick Sortor, a well-known influencer recognized for his coverage of riots and protests, found himself in a harrowing situation in Minneapolis over the weekend. While inside his car with fellow influencer Cam Higby, they were surrounded by a group of anti-Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) protesters.
In a post shared on the platform X, Sortor described the chaotic scene, stating, “These are the moments leading up to Minneapolis anti-ICE rioters SURROUNDING my vehicle, smashing my windows, and attempting to kiII @CamHigby and me.” His video, filmed from within the car, captures the protesters encroaching closely, yelling at Sortor and Higby while one individual even jumps onto the vehicle’s hood.
The tension escalated as calls rang out from the crowd, urging others to get out of the way. Sortor eventually felt compelled to drive away, emphasizing in his post that he had warned those in front of the car multiple times. He stated, “They didn’t listen, so I had no choice but to go anyway.”
This incident occurred alongside a broader context of immigration policy enforcement in the region. The Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem had just announced plans to send more ICE agents to Minneapolis for an impending immigration crackdown, following a recent incident where an ICE agent fatally shot Renee Good.
Sortor concluded his post with a defiant message, addressing the situation and the accusations made against him by the protesters. He asserted, “You can try to terrorize me all you want. BUT I WILL NEVER STOP, AND NEVER SHUT UP.”
