Mia Goth recently shared her experience of meeting filmmaker Christopher Nolan for the first time, recalling the intense nerves she felt during the process. The acclaimed actress, known for her roles in films like Pearl and MaXXXine, is set to appear in Nolan’s upcoming film, The Odyssey. This highly anticipated project chronicles the ten-year journey of Odysseus, the King of Ithaca, following the Trojan War.
In a candid moment during a recent episode of the podcast Happy Sad Confused, Goth revealed that anxiety nearly overcame her before her audition with the Oscar-winning director. “I remember driving over to Universal and being so nervous that I wanted to throw up,” she confessed. However, she also recognized the privilege of being in such a situation, stating, “I tried to tell myself what a privilege it is to even feel this.”
Goth also shared some intriguing details about the audition process itself. To maintain confidentiality for the film, she was provided with a “dummy” script and was unaware of her character until she accepted the role. “I said, ‘Yeah, I’m in,’ and then they gave me the script,” she explained.
In The Odyssey, Goth will portray Melantho, a maid whose disloyalty to Odysseus’ household leads to dire consequences. The star-studded cast of the film also includes Anne Hathaway, Matt Damon, Tom Holland, Zendaya, and Robert Pattinson, among others.
With its release date set for July 17, 2026, The Odyssey is already generating excitement, and fans are eager to see how Goth’s portrayal will unfold on screen. The film promises to be a compelling adaptation of the classic tale, and Goth’s experience underscores the intense dedication and passion actors bring to their craft.
