Several agencies and government offices across metro Atlanta are implementing changes in preparation for an impending winter storm expected to impact Georgia and neighboring states throughout the weekend. Forecasts indicate a prolonged wintry mix will begin on Saturday and persist into Sunday evening.
In Cobb County, all government offices, facilities, and courts will close starting Saturday at 6:00 p.m., with operations halted until Monday due to a Winter Storm Watch issued for the area.
DeKalb County has announced that all courthouses will remain closed on Monday, January 26. This decision aims to prioritize the safety of the public and court personnel, with all court operations and administrative offices suspending activities for the day. Those affected, including attorneys and jurors, will receive direct communication regarding rescheduling.
Similarly, Forest Park City Hall and its administrative offices will close on Monday, January 26. Essential city services, including Fire, Police, and Public Works, will remain operational. Employees able to telework will do so remotely while offices are set to reopen on Tuesday, January 27, during normal business hours.
In Fulton County, senior centers will shut their doors on Monday due to the expected poor weather conditions. Additionally, Fulton’s Behavioral Health and Developmental Disability Centers will not provide in-person services that day; however, outpatient behavioral health appointments will still be available virtually. Transportation services for dialysis patients are also suspended on Saturday, January 24, prompting residents to coordinate alternative arrangements with their providers.
