The CEO of McDonald’s, Chris Kempczinski, recently found himself at the center of social media mockery following the release of a video where he awkwardly attempted to enjoy the new “Big Arch” burger, set to launch in the United States on Tuesday. In the clip shared across various platforms, Kempczinski describes the burger as a “product” while struggling to take a bite from the oversized sandwich.

During his introduction, Kempczinski states, “I love this product, it is so good. I’m going to do a tasting right now, but I’m going to eat this for my lunch, just so you know.” The Big Arch burger boasts two quarter-pound patties, a special Big Arch sauce, crispy onions, pickles, and lettuce, aiming to appeal to burger enthusiasts.

However, the comedic aspect of the video became evident as Kempczinski hesitated to tackle the massive burger. He remarked on his uncertainty, saying he “didn’t even know how to attack it.” After taking a rather small bite, he exclaimed, “Mmm, that is so good, that’s a big bite for a Big Arch,” but viewers clearly found his enthusiasm unconvincing.

Social media users were quick to respond, with many questioning the authenticity of Kempczinski’s enjoyment of the product. Comments such as “Man’s aura screams kale salad” and “This was the most unnatural thing I’ve ever seen,” highlighted the disconnect between the CEO and the fast-food culture. Users even noted the corporate language in an informal setting, expressing their discomfort with terms like “product” when referring to food.

Previously, the Big Arch burger achieved significant popularity in Canada and Europe, where it became a staple on menus in the UK and Ireland after its initial launch in 2024. With 1,020 calories, the burger is comparable to a full Big Mac Meal, which includes fries and a medium soda, drawing attention not just for its size but also for its nutritional content.

Despite the lighthearted mockery of Kempczinski, the anticipation for the Big Arch burger suggests that McDonald’s is continuing to innovate and engage with its customer base, catering to evolving taste preferences.
