In 2024, the iconic card game Magic: The Gathering ventured into the post-apocalyptic realm of Fallout with the release of four preconstructed Commander decks that featured prominent characters, locations, and narrative events from the famous video game franchise. Recently, an announcement on Magic’s Secret Lair website has unveiled an exciting new collaboration with Bethesda, this time centering on the Fallout television series produced by Prime Video. This limited-time release is set to kick off on January 26 at 9 AM PT / 12 PM ET.

A banner featuring three intriguing images has surfaced on the Secret Lair website, hinting at the upcoming Fallout-themed drop. The images include a picture of CX404, the beloved canine companion known as Dogmeat; a gripping close-up of a hand grasping a Lucky 38 casino chip; and a depiction of Lucy, the courageous Vault Dweller from Vault 33, as played by Ella Purnell.

The teaser for the Secret Lair x Fallout collection revealed a glimpse of one specific card—a reprint of Mindcrank—through the official Fallout Instagram. Following that, a total of nine cards have been disclosed from what is being termed the Secret Lair x Fallout Rad Superdrop. Among the highlighted cards are:

– Lucy MacLean, Positively Armed (unique)
– The Ghoul, Gunslinger (unique)
– Maximus, Knight Apparent (unique)
– Dogmeat, Constant Companion (a reprint of Yoshimaru, Ever-Faithful)
– Joshua Graham, Burned Man (a reprint of Isshin, Two Heavens as One)
– Mindcrank
– Mothman Egg (a reprint of Mesmeric Orb)
– Patchwork Banner
– The Platinum Chip (a reprint of Caged Sun)

While there has been no announcement regarding the total number of drops that will be included in this Fallout collaboration, the released cards suggest there could be at least two. For context, the recent PlayStation-themed superdrop featured seven different releases inspired by popular first-party PlayStation titles including Ghost of Tsushima and The Last of Us.

The announcement of the Secret Lair drop comes just a day before the prerelease event for “Lorwyn Eclipsed,” which marks the first major expansion for the year 2026. This set is particularly exciting as it takes players back to the plane of Lorwyn after nearly two decades, reintroducing beloved fantasy creatures such as kithkin, elementals, elves, and boggarts. Lorwyn Eclipsed will become available in retailers and local game stores starting January 23.

This collaboration between Magic: The Gathering and Fallout not only caters to fans of both franchises but also represents a creative merging of gaming cultures that is sure to excite players and collectors alike. With more revelations likely to come leading up to the release, anticipation is building for what new surprises this partnership may unveil.
