LSU’s Early Signing Period Push: Ole Miss Flips and Top QB Duckworth in Focus

Lane Kiffin and the coaching staff at LSU have been diligently ramping up recruitment efforts in anticipation of the Early Signing Period, which is fast approaching. In a significant surge, the Tigers have successfully secured a double-digit number of early signees within the past 72 hours and are actively pursuing potential flips from rival recruits.

A standout moment in their recruitment strategy came with the signing of JC Anderson, a four-star tight end hailing from Mt. Zion, Illinois. Anderson took to social media on Tuesday to announce his decision to decommit from Ole Miss and join the LSU Tigers. Following his lead, three-star offensive lineman Ryan Miret from Miami also backed out of his commitment to Ole Miss and officially signed with LSU. To add to the excitement, Corey Barber, a four-star wide receiver from Pinson, Alabama, followed suit by switching his commitment from Ole Miss to LSU, signing on with the Bayou Bengals on Wednesday.

In the midst of this recruitment frenzy, LSU is turning its attention to Landon Duckworth, a highly regarded four-star quarterback from Jackson, Alabama, who is currently committed to South Carolina. Reports indicate that the LSU coaching staff is intensifying their efforts to persuade Duckworth, who ranks as the No. 10 quarterback prospect in the 2026 class, to reconsider his commitment. Standing at 6-foot-3 and weighing 195 pounds, Duckworth had previously opted for South Carolina over Ole Miss and Auburn last summer.

Despite Duckworth’s current commitment, the competition remains fierce. However, LSU seems to be building momentum in its pursuit of this talented quarterback. As the signing period unfolds, the Bayou Bengals are banking on their enhanced outreach and strategic persuasion to attract more commitments and finalize their roster for the seasons ahead. The relentless pursuit in recruitment signals a promising future for LSU as they aim to bolster their team and enhance their competitive edge.
