Louisville, Ky. (WAVE) – A series of weather alerts have been issued as a significant winter storm approaches the region this week. Starting tonight and continuing into the early Friday morning commute, snow will blanket areas across Louisville Metro, with expected accumulations ranging from 1 to 4 inches, particularly higher totals anticipated north and northwest of the city. Travelers should be prepared for potentially hazardous conditions overnight.

As chief meteorologist Kevin Harned from WAVE News points out, the Friday morning commute could be impacted by slick roads due to the overnight snowfall. However, conditions are expected to improve later in the day, with temperatures rising above freezing by the afternoon, alleviating some travel concerns. The morning’s residual snow is likely to diminish into drizzle by day’s end.

Looking ahead, Saturday promises to be cold, with another round of snow showers anticipated in the late afternoon and evening, which may result in further accumulations. The following day, Sunday, is set to bring extreme cold, with evening lows plunging into the single digits, and wind chills expected to drop below zero.

Residents are advised to stay warm and exercise caution if traveling during this extreme weather period. With a mix of snow and frigid temperatures, it is crucial to prepare adequately for the challenging conditions ahead.
