The Loloma Heights under-21 rugby team is showcasing a spirit of optimism and unity as they aim to leave a lasting impression at the Fiji Bitter Wairiki 7s tournament in Taveuni. Comprising young athletes from the Urata area near Savusavu, the team began their quest for success with determination.

In their inaugural pool match, they secured a victory against the Varon Golden Eagles with a score of 12-0. However, their momentum faced a challenge with a loss of 0-26 to Fiji Seasalt Taveuni Select 1 in their subsequent match. Team manager Viliame Rasekaseka expressed pride in his players, highlighting the team’s preparation and commitment in the lead-up to this significant event.

Rasekaseka noted that the team had recently finished a 15s tournament, gathering players from various squads to form a cohesive unit ready for the 7s format. Their enhanced fitness and preparation, bolstered by participation in a previous tournament just two weeks ago, have positioned them well for the challenges ahead.

“Our preparations have gone smoothly since arriving in Taveuni last week,” Rasekaseka shared. He remains hopeful about the team’s prospects, emphasizing their aspiration to finish the tournament on a high note after the next three days of competition.

He expressed gratitude towards the team’s sponsors and families for their steadfast support, which has been vital for the players. The Loloma Heights team will face the Village Boys in their final pool match, set for 5:15 PM, as they look to secure their place in the tournament’s later stages. Competing in Pool 3 alongside Fiji Seasalt Taveuni Select 1, Village Boys, and Varon Golden Eagles, the team is eager to persevere and demonstrate their skills on the field.
