Life Insurance Corporation of India (LICI) Fiji has reached a remarkable milestone by surpassing $100 million in total investments for the first time. Notably, 2025 has seen LICI Fiji post a record investment of $130 million, marking an unprecedented annual high for the company.
During a press conference in Suva, Finance and Investment Manager Vivek Prakash disclosed that of the $130 million invested this year, over $70 million came from fresh capital, with the remainder sourced from previous investments. He attributed the company’s robust performance to its operational efficiency and cost-effectiveness, expressing optimism for approximately 20% growth in new business by the end of the current financial year.
A significant part of this year’s investment, approximately $126 million, was directed towards Fiji Infrastructure Bonds (FIBs), emphasizing LICI’s commitment to fostering economic development in Fiji. In addition, the organization invested $4 million in bonds from the Fiji Development Bank (FDB), reinforcing its strategic focus on bolstering local financial resources.
Prakash also expressed aspirations to exceed this investment milestone in the coming years, noting that the $130 million figure is the highest single-year investment the company has achieved. He highlighted that an impressive 95% of the surplus generated will be returned to policyholders, with only 5% designated for shareholders. Reflecting a strong financial position, LICI announced a bonus of $26 million for policyholders last year, demonstrating its consistent track record of providing bonuses, indicative of prudent investments and effective management.
Currently, LICI Fiji supports around 61,000 policyholders actively contributing to premium payments, highlighting the company’s dedication to its clients and the Fijian economy. This significant accomplishment not only illustrates LICI Fiji’s growth and financial resilience but also signifies a promising future, underlining its commitment to enhance the economic landscape of Fiji.
