SALT LAKE CITY — The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints announced on Friday the establishment of 55 new missions globally, marking a significant expansion of its missionary efforts. This initiative is set to roll out on July 1, 2026.

With this addition, the total number of missions will rise to 506. The church highlighted that these new missions are designed to accommodate the growing number of young members who are answering the call to serve full-time missions. Additionally, the new structure aims to better support the increasing number of congregations worldwide.

President Dallin H. Oaks of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints expressed optimism about the rise in young missionaries. “It is inspiring to see the number of young Church members who continue to answer the call to share the good news of the gospel of Jesus Christ around the world,” he stated. “These missionaries are helping to bless the lives of hundreds of thousands of people every year who are choosing to be baptized into the Lord’s Church.”

The church has experienced significant growth in its missionary force, with the number of young and senior missionaries jumping from approximately 65,000 in 2022 to over 84,000 today. This surge indicates a vibrant commitment among members to outreach and service.

A comprehensive list of the newly established missions will be available on The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints’ official website. This expansion reflects a hopeful trend of increasing engagement and community support, promising to spread a message of faith and total involvement.
