A last-minute adjustment has been made to the McDonald’s Mike Friday Select 7s squad due to police obligations, resulting in Ilikimi Torosi being withdrawn from the tournament. The tournament organizers confirmed that Torosi, who is employed by the Fiji Police Force, was instructed to return to active duty, which unfortunately means he will not be participating despite being originally selected.

The decision was respected by the tournament organizers, who recognize the importance of the player’s responsibilities to the Police Force, even as his absence is a significant loss for the team. In response, selectors moved swiftly to ensure the squad’s depth and balance by bringing in Josese Rokoua, a talented speedster known for his agility and sevens experience, who recently played for Devo Babas. Rokoua’s inclusion is expected to enhance the team’s dynamic.

As the Mike Friday Select 7s prepares for competition in Sigatoka, the players remain committed to showcasing their skills and delivering a strong performance that reflects the essence of Fijian and international sevens rugby. The Coral Coast 7s tournament is set to commence next Thursday at Lawaqa Park in Sigatoka, with free entry for spectators. Fans can also look forward to live coverage on FBC Sports, ensuring that supporters can stay connected with the action throughout the event.

This year’s tournament promises to highlight the resilience and talent in Fijian rugby, showcasing how teams can adapt to challenges while remaining focused on their goals.
