The body of 19-year-old Avick Avinesh Chand was found today around 2:30 PM near the Wailevu River in Labasa. Chand had been fishing on the riverbank with his father when he tragically slipped and fell into the water, prompting a desperate search for him after his disappearance.

According to the Fiji Police Force, the case was reported to the Labasa Police Station over the weekend. However, search efforts were initially delayed due to hazardous conditions, including strong currents and murky waters. Fortunately, operations resumed today, which ultimately led to the recovery of Chand’s body.
