The Los Angeles Police Department reported that seven people were arrested during celebrations in the city following the Dodgers’ World Series victory. These incidents unfolded Saturday night as enthusiastic fans filled the streets to commemorate the team’s success.
According to LAPD officials, the arrests included three individuals for felony vandalism, one for failure to disperse, another for battery on a police officer, and one for possessing fireworks. In a notable incident, a woman was apprehended after colliding with a police horse while riding her bicycle; fortunately, the horse was unharmed.
Celebratory activities resulted in some vandalism, particularly in Echo Park, where businesses and public transport vehicles, including driverless cars, were damaged. In Pacoima, large crowds commandeered an intersection, engaging in a sideshow while displaying Dodger flags and setting off fireworks. The LAPD, which had activated a Tactical Alert around 6 p.m. to manage the anticipated celebrations, implemented dispersal orders at multiple locations, including Chick Hearn Court and 11th Street, as well as Sunset Boulevard and Echo Park Avenue.
Despite the incidents, there were no reported injuries, and the overall atmosphere during the celebrations showcased the passionate support of Dodger fans throughout Los Angeles.
