Fiji Airways men’s sevens head coach Osea Kolinisau has expressed unwavering confidence in his team’s preparation for the upcoming Singapore Sevens. Highlighting the intense physical training they have embarked on over the Christmas and New Year period, Kolinisau underscored how these efforts have laid a solid foundation for the squad’s performance.

Kolinisau discussed the rigorous training sessions leading up to the Coral Coast Sevens and the final week of preparation before departure, noting that such conditioning was crucial. “I’m satisfied with the team’s fitness. I know the work we put in, especially in the lead-up to Coral Coast. We had a tough two weeks—one week before Coral Coast and then the week before we left,” he remarked. This extensive preparation has given the coach confidence that the team is primed to execute their game plan effectively in Singapore.

The former Olympic gold medalist highlighted the physical toughness exhibited by his players, stating, “I trust and believe the boys are ready and they’re going to go there and do the job that we intend to do.” This confidence is further augmented by the meticulous strategy they have devised for their games.

The men’s team is set to kick off their campaign in Singapore against Great Britain at 4:32 PM on Saturday. They will also face Spain at 7:58 PM and South Africa at 11:46 PM in a packed schedule. Fans can watch all the action live on FBC TV.

With a strong sense of physical readiness and mental focus, there is a palpable excitement in the Fijian rugby community as they look forward to supporting their team in this critical stage of the World Rugby Sevens Series. Encouraging performances early in the tournament could set the tone for what could be a remarkable series for the team.
