With Matt Ryan making his exit from CBS to return to the Falcons, quarterback Kirk Cousins will step into his role on The NFL Today for the upcoming two weekends of postseason coverage.

Last year, Cousins lent his insights to ESPN during the divisional round of the playoffs. Although he was initially slated to join NBC’s Football Night in America during Atlanta’s bye week in 2024, those plans were eventually scrapped.

Cousins’ experience in the media could pave the way for a potential future career in this field. However, his focus remains on the field as he is poised to enter free agency in March. Recent adjustments to his contract suggest the Falcons may release him around March 11 or 12, allowing him to become available early in the free agency period.

In 2024, Cousins had signed a significant four-year contract with the Falcons, featuring $100 million in guaranteed money. Following this, the Falcons selected quarterback Michael Penix Jr. with the eighth overall pick in the draft, signaling their long-term strategy at the position.

Despite being benched towards the end of the 2024 season, Cousins took the helm again after Penix suffered a season-ending ACL injury in 2025. He led the team to a respectable finish, starting eight games and concluding the year with a four-game winning streak that included two impressive prime-time victories.

This development could lead Cousins to a bright and versatile future, whether he continues on the field or transitions into a broadcasting career, keeping fans eager for what lies ahead for this seasoned quarterback.
