Kimora Lee Simmons has opened up about her estranged relationships with the fathers of her five biological children, stating that her interactions with them are nearly non-existent. In a recent interview with PEOPLE, the fashion mogul and reality TV star shared that while she typically describes her co-parenting situation as “okay,” she is primarily responsible for raising her kids full-time. She acknowledged the challenges of single parenting and expressed uncertainty about the perspectives of her children’s fathers, highlighting, “Guys are weird.”
Simmons is the mother of two daughters, Ming Lee, 25, and Aoki Lee, 23, from her marriage to Russell Simmons. Additionally, she has a son, Kenzo, 16, with actor Djimon Hounsou, and another son, Wolfe, 10, with former investment banker Tim Leissner. Beyond her biological children, she also adopted 16-year-old Gary from Jamaica in 2020 and has taken care of her bonus son, Jayden, 19, who has been part of their family since the fourth grade.
With her attention firmly directed towards her family, Simmons is not considering a romantic relationship, stating, “My life doesn’t ever revolve around a guy, ever.” She expresses satisfaction in being a dedicated presence in her children’s lives, which she believes is a privilege that allows her to support them in ways that some parents cannot.
Moreover, Simmons continues to extend her nurturing spirit to others, including the late Kim Porter’s twins, D’Lila and Jessie, who are now 18 years old. In an emotional appearance on “Today,” she revealed, “One of my friends who passed away, Kim Porter, I have all of her kids… even though some of them are adults.”
Motherhood is a pivotal theme in Simmons’ return to reality television with her new show, “Kimora: Back In The Fab Lane,” which streams on E!. She embraces her role as a mother, not just to her own children but to those around her. Simmons commented on the joy she feels when people approach her, recognizing her as a motherly figure or a friend, stating, “I mother people all around me. That’s what I live for.”
This positive outlook on motherhood and community illustrates Simmons’ commitment to family and underscores the support system she has created around herself and those she loves.
